Celebrity Deathwatch: New and Improved

Celebrated film director Ingmar Bergman, dead at 89.

And now, a story:

In 1989, when Emperor Hirohito of Japan died, my mom went on this long tirade about how she could have sworn that Hirohito died when she was in elementary school. She went on and on about it, was ready to bet cash. It was finally decided that Emperor Hirohito had clearly died more than once. It was a long running joke among my mom, my kinda-stepdad and myself for many years. Occassionally, I'll bring up Hirohito when we are talking about a celebrity that we thought was already dead.

All that to say, I thought Ingmar Bergman died about 20 years ago.

Speaking of film directors, apropos of nothing, I wish these four five dudes would stop making films/TV shows/whatever right now:

1.) Kevin Smith
2.) Quentin Tarantino
3.) J.J. Abrams
4.) Brett Ratner
5.) Michael Bay (after he does Transformers II)
